New art, new style~ Details and patterns are really fun to draw I think I usually stick to the idea that "simple is best" but I'm often intrigued and admire artworks with a lot of detailing too, so I wanted to try it Drawn with black pigment liners and watercolor!
This is an illustration of my OC, Ayumi. She's an angel that can't fly, because her wings are too small. She wishes for the sky, the stars and love. Eventually someone will come along with the key to unlock her wishes~
Available every year as a print (12x18") sold at Otakuthon
The drawing took way longer than it should have XD Hope you all appreciate the time and effort spent
Thank you for every Comment, Critique, Fav and/or +Watch! I really do appreciate the support
With exception to the anime-style angel and the hearts here and there this is actually very reminiscent of some of the works my wife has made. Almost immediately, I was curious about the scarf and the bandage over her eye. Overall, i liked the visual balance of your work, it's seemingly random structure is still weighted well. I also noticed the lack of color on her clothing/wings and I'm assuming this is symbolic of purity etc. I am curious though as to why you made the choice to have the color in her hair, not to say it doesn't look good, but I'm curious about your reasoning behind it.
Pros: Interesting design and theme. Good Variation of weight to you light which is also creating some interesting flow. The colored texture in the background is not only adding a splash of color but it is creating some interesting contrast.
Cons: I think that you could have been more selective in where that color texture could not have and could have gone. For instance I am not sure that it is working in her hair. I think that you might like to read an article I wrote about contrast which is more complex than people believe. [link]
I hope that helps and keep on doing your art, you got some ability.
You're welcome for the llama! I'm happy you like my art!
If you have a facebook account, would you be so kind to support my art by voting for me here? [link] I entered a competition to have my painting displayed in the national gallery of Canada and I need the votes to win >w< It only takes a second and it means a lot to me <3
